Stellaria art glass bowl by Tapio Wirkkala

Rare, signed and very beautiful Scandinavian glass bowl, large in size, suitable for fruits or sweets, made and signed by Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala, Finland. The bowl is known as "Stellaria" (little star). Clear crystal glass, vividly structured underneath and very polished on top. The design resembles an ice structure. As always, Wirkkala's design has a timeless modern feel and this is a very rare piece of Finnish glass design from one of Finland's most famous designers, in excellent condition. It is also a rare piece as it is signed. Manufacturer: Iittala/Finland. Artist/Designer: Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985). Material: clear crystal. Dimensions (approximately): height 14 cm, diameter 18 cm. Weight: 852 g. Condition: excellent, almost as new.
