Louis XVI 2-seater bench

Here is a magnificent 2-seater bench (early twentieth century), rare and in a state that surprises for its age. All in molded walnut, the wood is worked with great tact and elegance. It is a louis XVI style piece of furniture in wood carved with water friezes, with 4 tapered feet with molded flutes with beautiful lines. Each vertical column, around the backrest, is even as openwork, and not taken in the mass, to offer more lightness, at the level of the backrest of a beautiful curve. The backrest echoes the shapes of the seat, the front part of which, in belt, is itself curved with a rounded carved border on the façade, again in response to the upper woodwork above the velvet backrest. This small two-seater sofa, is supported by 2 legs at the front sculpted with great finesse, but nevertheless solid and 2 square jambs on the back no less robust. Just a small mark of wear appears in the shape of a butterfly, on the back of one of the uprights. Covered with a charming velvet of a pretty straw yellow (surrounded by a stripe of the same bath), both in backrest, front and back, as in seat and shoulders, this bench is of a delight that will suit lovers of beautiful pieces and a craft of art that has become rare. This pretty piece of furniture of excellent proportion, is easy to insert in different points of the house: ideal in a bedroom, a living room or an office, it will also be adjusted to an entrance. If old sofas are often difficult to place because of their long length, this one is indeed a small footprint. Also covered at the back (but the separation avoids too large a mass of velvet), it can also be positioned in the center of a room and thus separate a living room, a small library or a dining room, for example. The two shoulders, alone, testify to the quality of the whole. It is a beautiful room, uncommon especially in this state of conservation.
