3372 – butter dish – blue opaline – vallérysthal signed vallérysthal on the inside, this butter dish in light blue molded opaline with gilding, in good condition. No major cracks or chips, only tiny ones from normal use on the edges and some lack of gilding that can attest to its age. This item can be found with different decorations and colors in the portieux glassware catalog from 1933 on plates 5 and 67 intended for butter dishes. It represents an elephant with its trunk raised, fully harnessed, with its mahout on its back. Beautiful piece of very decorative century-old glassware for amateurs or collectors. Height 145 mm X 179 mm X 94 mm. Weight 820 g. Careful and tracked shipping. For information, the vallérysthal crystal factory is one of the oldest glassworks and crystal factories in france. It made its debut in 1699 and has existed in lorraine since 1707. It was known from the beginning of the 19th century for its quality glass, its half-crystal developed in 1833 by its director françois eugène de fontenay and its cut colored double glass. It merged with the vosges glass and crystal factory portieux in 1872 and closed its doors permanently in 2021. A museum is dedicated to it today.
