Simplicity sometimes has a lot of substance. This solid wood table focuses on generosity and straightforward construction. Its thick top allows the wood to express itself in all its materiality, while its legs and stretcher evoke the large tables of workshops or farms. Yet the whole remains surprisingly contemporary. The proportions are just right, the volumes carefully balanced, and the simplicity of its design gives it a warm, almost reassuring presence. Nothing seeks to draw attention; everything seems to have found its place. As is often the case with solid wood tops of this thickness, time has left a few shrinkage cracks and old repairs. Perfectly accepted, they now contribute to the history of the piece and testify to a piece of furniture that has been chosen to be maintained rather than replaced. A table that knows traditions without living in the past.
