Beautiful large antique decanter/ewer in clear and colorless blown glass, Belle Époque style, French work circa 1900–1930, unsigned. Slender amphora shape mounted on a short foot, with a lovely, delicate, flexible handle. Finely engraved decoration on the body with stylized branch/palm motifs, typical of French glassworks in the East during the Belle Époque and the early years of Art Deco. Faceted, spherical crystal stopper, not original but a good match. 36 cm total height with stopper, 30 cm without (31.5 cm to the top of the handle), approximately 12 cm in diameter, 15 cm maximum width with the handle. Very good overall condition, no chips or cracks, a few small scratches on the body, and micro-chips on the stopper, a slight deposit at the bottom, a faint round imprint above one of the branches, possibly an old label mark or an engraving wheel mark; overall, discreet flaws. Approximately 700g.
