Folding serving trolley or mute servant in oak wood, late 19th century / early 20th century. • Sober but elegant design, with repetitive frieze carved borders, reminiscent of the Napoleon III style (late 19th century). • Composed of two superimposed trays, each surrounded by a carved border with a repetitive pattern. • Structure supported by two inclined side uprights, which meet at the top with a crossbar, to reinforce the solidity and for transport. • The base is made up of volute-shaped feet, which adds a decorative touch and additional stability. • This type of furniture was used in bourgeois homes as a serving trolley, and used to place dishes or tea in a living room or dining room. • It can also be used as a decorative shelf, support for plants or art objects. • Its foldable structure with two brass arms makes it easy to move.
