The Maralunga is characterised by what appears to be a slumped backrest, but is actually a height-adjustable headrest, operated by a bicycle chain that runs beneath the soft foam cushions. The result is a chair that serves two functions: it acts as a backdrop for social conversations and a frame for solo relaxation. "My intention, with Feal, was to design an object that represents a whole range of interior architectures with a sense of familiarity, " Magistretti said about the design.
