Magnificent and rare homogeneous set of 10 mazagrans in artisanal earthenware, created and signed by the Breton ceramist Jean-Claude Le Mao. Superb decor typical of the 1970s/1980s, featuring bright stellar or solar motifs in shades of brown, beige, and white. The background presents a textured blue glaze with a unique speckled effect, and the reverse offers a beautiful solid blue-green glaze with subtle variations. Each piece is doubly signed: handwritten "Mao" painted on the side at the bottom of the decor, and incised under the base. Height 17 cm. Excellent overall condition. The glaze and gilding are perfectly preserved. Jean-Claude Mao is a French ceramist emblematic of the second half of the 20th century. Based in Brittany, particularly in his workshop in Tréboul, Douarnenez, he profoundly influenced the artisanal table art of the 1970s and 1980s. His work is characterised by the freedom of his hand-painted decors (often cosmic or floral) and the mastery of rich glaze textures, fully aligning with the movement of the revival of Breton artistic ceramics. #coffee tea cup bowl vase handmade.
