Painted Folk Art Bridal Chest

Beautiful painted bridal chest from germany, medium-sized. The chest is painted in mainly brown and green tones, with the front panels decorated with flowers. The chest still has the original lock with key. Sporadically, there are some woodworm traces visible throughout, these have of course been checked and treated. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. These pieces of furniture were later placed in a state room on the farm that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This copy dates from around 1850. 45cm high, 94cm wide, 50cm deep.
