Discover this magnificent rare engraving featuring the polymmates butterflies ⭐ this plate, over 180 years old, a document full of history, was published in paris in 1839 in a natural history encyclopedia. ⭐ the work, hand-colored at the time with the greatest care, combines the beauty of nature with scientific accuracy ⭐ this lithograph, measuring 18 X 28.5 cm, is enhanced by cream-colored paper and extremely detailed printing thanks to the steel engraving process. ⭐ this illustration is a superb zoological piece down to its colors and details ⭐ it is taken from a work by fe guerin-meneville and illustrated by auguste dumenil, a french draftsman and engraver. ⭐ the engraving is in very good condition, note small defects inherent to time, binding and the nature of the paper, particularly in the left margin. See also the photos. The back of the illustration is blank. ⭐ polymmates butterflies are small lepidopterans with delicate and colorful wings, often bluish or iridescent.
