Oil on canvas entitled "Le Bouquet Bleu" and signed Marcel Depré (1919 - 1990)

Influenced by classical still lifes as well as by the modernist movements that run throughout the twentieth century, this painting by marcel depré changes from its usual subjects. This artist who became official painter of the navy in 1973 won several awards thanks to works focused on the life of the coast. This former student of the école d'estienne in paris from 1933 to 1937 was noticed in artistic circles by a characteristic paste drawing as well from cubism as from the optical works of robert and sonia delaunay. Several works by marcel depré are now kept at the musée d'art moderne in paris, the musée national de la marine and the musée des baux-de-provence.
