Belgian collection of African art accompanied by its certificate of authenticity. Ethnic group: Ndenguese. Country: Congo. Estimated dating: mid-20th century Kneeling subject highlighting the lineage. The flared hairstyle is that of the Totshi chiefs belonging to the Ikoho association and evokes particular proverbs. It symbolizes respect, intelligence and maturity. The patterns engraved in relief refer to the scarifications that distinguished individuals socially and aesthetically. Golden patina. Weight 1.00 kg People of Central Africa established in Kasai, neighbor of the Kuba, the Ndengese form one of the clans descended from a common Mongo ancestor, some of them being originally from the Upper Nile.
