A rare A Scavo glass vase made by Vetreria Gino Cenedese around the 1960s. Clear and grey glass with autumn leaves embedded in brown, yellow, and green, surface with a matte scavo engraved decoration, incised signature at the base. An authentic rare example of 20th-century Murano glass art. In 1946, Gino Cenedese founded the company Cenedese & Co. With master glassmakers Alfredo Barbini, Gino Fort, Angelo Tosi, and Pietro Scaramal. After his partners left in 1949, Cenedese collaborated with independent designers and artists, including Fulvio Bianconi, Riccardo Licata, Napoleone Martinuzzi, Ermanno Nason, and painter Luigi Scarpa Croce. In 1959, Antonio Da Ros became the artistic director. He frequently created pieces using the Sommerso technique, often with the so-called "uranium" glass, which glows intensely under ultraviolet light. The factory is also known for its aquarium sculptures — large blocks of clear glass containing fish and seaweed in full swim. They were initially designed by Alfredo Barbini and later taken up by Riccardo Licata. Gino Cenedese died in 1973. The company is still active today under the name Ars Cenedese.
