Walnut armchairs in Louis XV style, France

Pair of walnut armchairs in Louis XV style with high-quality speckled anthracite upholstery. These pieces stand out from other seating of the same style with a choice of a sober colour that allows for delicate sculptural work throughout the walnut structure. The classic ornamental elements in the "Louis XV" style are largely inspired by nature, such as the "S" shaped cabriole legs and the shell motif at the top of the backrest. The whole is composed of several mouldings highlighting the curved shapes of the seats. Often regarded as the pinnacle of antique furniture, it was during the Louis XV period that craftsmen (carpenters, cabinetmakers, sculptors, gilders, etc.) fully expressed their talent. This style is characterised by its lightness and elegance.
