Charles Catteau (1880-1966) was a Franco-Belgian ceramicist. A designer who began working for the Keramis factory at Boch Frères in La Louvière, Belgium, in 1906, his infinitely varied production is sought after by amateurs and professionals alike. His work illustrates his dual palette: on one hand, colorful, richly glazed, rather retro earthenware, and on the other, elegant, understated stoneware with abstract motifs. This vase is exceptional due to its size; it is signed by Charles Catteau and has retained the label of the shop that sold it.
