A charming and characterful petite table lamp in a rich, deep red — the kind of piece that quietly commands attention on any desk or side table. The hemispherical dome shade sits on top of a slender flat arm rising from a circular wire base, and the lamp socket pivots on a black conical holder with a brass accent ring, allowing you to adjust the angle of the light to your liking.Clearly marked on the arm: the embossed logo of Upsala Armaturfabrik alongside model number 58445, accompanied by a partially intact coloured “S” sticker, a period safety label — Swedish mid-century provenance confirmed. This model is very rare.Upsala Armaturfabrik was founded in Uppsala in 1915, relocating to Stockholm after only a few years, and by the 1940s had grown into a major lighting manufacturer at the forefront of modern Swedish design. Active until 1970, the company collaborated with a number of external architects and designers, among them Sven Markelius, producing pieces that are today sought-after examples of Scandinavian modernism.Condition is honest vintage. The shade shows surface scratches, minor dents and paint loss consistent with age and use. There is a subtle indentation around the two screw fixings where the shade meets the arm — this appears to be an intentional pressed detail rather than impact damage, as the surrounding paintwork is undisturbed and the form is symmetrical. The base and arm retain their original red lacquer well. E14 bulb.A rare and lovely, unpretentious piece of Swedish postwar design — functional, adjustable, and full of mid-century personality.
