Handmade rug with Berber patterns

The Tunisian kilim is composed of parallel, solid strips of various colors. Traditionally made by nomads in the south, it was once used to cover camel bedding or as a partition in tents. Today, it is also used for floor decoration. Traditional kilims use patterns based on two simple geometric shapes: triangles and diamonds in various colors.
