18th century high mountain chest, in solid oak and forged parts.

These high mountain chests were made by blacksmiths, entirely by hand. Sculptures on oak or chestnut wood with gouge typical of the south west of France (we find these battlements, at the bottom of the chest, on old Spanish furniture from the 18th century). Dating confirmed by a craftsman specializing in high mountain furniture. (maybe 17th but the only way to confirm would be to remove the lock). The lock tab is not original but was remade by a craftsman, faithful to the original. Beautiful rustic piece, perfect entryway chest.
