Very large floor sculpture called "asteroid" or "sea urchin", commonly attributed to the curtis jere collective (jerry fels & curtis freiler), active in the united states from the 1960s-70s. The work consists of a dense radiation of stainless steel tubes welded in a spherical sheaf. A sculptural, graphic and spectacular sculpture, evoking the organic forms of sea urchins or solar explosions. Rare in this xxl format, this piece is both a design object and a work of decorative art from the american mid-century modern movement. ________________________________________ technical details: • designer: curtis jere (attributed to) • manufacturer: artisanat usa, unsigned • period: circa 1970 • materials: stainless steel (welded hollow tubes) • finish: polished steel with light original patina ________________________________________ dimensions: • height / diameter: 70 cm (27.56 in) • estimated weight: 14 kg ________________________________________ condition: very good vintage condition with light original patina.
