This terracotta jar has all the characteristics of a piece shaped on a wheel, somewhere under a generous sun. Two generous handles frame a plump body, belted with hand-modeled relief garlands, punctuated by small wavy incisions that reveal the potter's touch. The clay has taken on this irregular patina that only time and the elements can bestow: shades of sand, ochre, and light grey that respond to one another from row to row. A ribbed foot supports the whole with a certain solemnity. It wonderfully holds a bouquet of dried flowers, but also knows how to stand alone, placed in the corner of a fireplace or on a console, as an object to admire. Some wear and traces of limestone tell its past, which we cherish.
