This old tray is made of black "Chinese lacquer." It dates from the late 19th century. Asian-inspired, it is a shell-shaped basket made of lacquered boiled cardboard. In the Napoléon III style, this tray features gold and polychrome decorations in a Japanese style, depicting battles between warriors in a landscape. There are signs of use: scratches and wear on the gilding. This tray measures 35 cm X 25 cm.
