VAL-SAINT-LAMBERT, a crystal dish or catchall with a wavy design, circa 1960. Signature "Val-Saint-Lambert" engraved at the tip under the base. Dimensions: Diameter 15cm, Height 6cm. Very good condition. Thick crystal made using the Sommerso technique ("submerged" in Italian), incorporating a mass of blue glass, in a gradient from deep blue to translucent azure in the centre. The design is organic and fluid, resembling an eye or a whirlpool, playing with the refraction of light from all angles. VAL-SAINT-LAMBERT is a prestigious Belgian crystal manufacturer since 1826, near Liège, and is celebrating its bicentennial this year. Several major events are planned, including a large exhibition titled "Val Saint Lambert & Design" at the Design Museum Brussels (from April to October 2026). Today, it is no longer the giant factory of 5, 000 workers from the 19th century, but a resilient luxury manufacturer. It focuses on the excellence of its "double-coloured and cut" crystal (its global signature) while becoming a major cultural and tourist hub managed by public authorities to prevent its disappearance. A revival of workshop production has been announced for spring 2026, with the ambition to recruit new artisans to sustain the craftsmanship. The brand seeks to refresh its image by complementing its historical collections with contemporary creations, regularly collaborating with external designers to adapt crystal to modern interiors. Located in Paris Sentier (75002).
