Trumeau mirror

A superb piece full of character and authenticity that combines the charm of a mirror pitted in places, and the delicacy of a period painting. Probably late 18th century, it presents a pastoral scene depicting a young woman playing the flute with sheep, in a peaceful landscape with soft and harmonious tones. It is thus part of the tradition of typical louis XVI or directoire style trumeaus. Its carved and gilded wooden frame, with a natural patina, bears witness to the passage of time and reinforces its authenticity. The canvas has some tears and lack of material, particularly on the upper left part of the decoration, adding charm to the whole. The mirror is marked by the wear of time, with a slight pitting that reflects its authenticity and history.
