Art deco velour rug with fringes – 1930s, 142 x 91 cm

A fine Art Deco rug in velour with a rich geometric pattern in sand, brown, black, orange and old rose. The central field is built up of blocks, steps and stylised plant motifs, surrounded by a serrated border. One short side has fringes; the other has small rings attached, so the rug could also be used as a wall hanging or portière. The back is lined with a dark lining. Condition: used. An old stitched seam runs across the width (see photo 4). On the back the lining has been reinforced with black tape in a few places (photos 6, 7 and 8). The fringes are partly frayed; light wear and fold lines in the pile.
