This art deco coffee table known as the “spider table” was designed by jindrich halabala.pour up zavody. One of the most famous Czech furniture designers of the 20th century, Halabala worked as chief designer for the manufacturing company United Arts and Crafts (UP) in Brno between 1930 and 1946. He was an important advocate of modernist furniture made industrially in Czechoslovakia and had a considerable influence on the interior design of many interwar and postwar Czech houses. Furniture attributable to Jindrich Halabala is highly sought after today. His creations can be found in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Olomouc Art Museum and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Square in shape, the spider table has distinctive curved legs and rounded corners. Curved beech legs and veneered top. Size: height: 65cm. Width: 65cm. Depth: 65cm. Origin: Czech. Circa 1930s.
