The still life is beautiful, in very good condition and signed. Oil painting with a knife. Very beautiful gilded frame. Frame height 22 cm x width 27 cm. Canvas height 17 cm x width 22 cm. Robert Cox is internationally recognised and listed in common reports such as Artprice. Born on 14 July 1934 in Mt Holly, New Jersey, Cox studied at the Katharine Gibbs School from 1953 to 1956. He found much inspiration for his floral paintings in California and became one of the most prolific painters of the 1970s and 1980s. He used a palette knife to create his stylised flowers, often selling his paintings for little money because he believed that original art should be available to the general public so that they could appreciate art everywhere, even in their homes. Cox was a founding member of the Art Workers Coalition and very active in promoting artists' rights. He received the Brown Hammerson Medal of Honour for services to art in 1986.
