Vintage propos lounge armchair by hulmefa, produced in the 1960s in nieuwe pekela, the netherlands. This rare dutch lounge armchair is made of teak and upholstered with a fabric in white, brown and yellow tones. The chair stands out for its beautiful, sculptural design and is part of the progressive propos series by the firm hulmefa of nieuwe pekela. Originally, this is a so-called "gentlemen's chair, " which is reflected in the high backrest. At that time, gentlemen were expected to be able, after a day's work - often with smokes in their hands - to lean back quietly. A high backrest was therefore considered appropriate and comfortable. The lounge armchair has been reupholstered and therefore sits like new again. Its elegant, organic shape makes this piece of furniture a pleasure to look at and a real eye-catcher in any interior.
