Glass bowl Trigona for Holmegaard, Denmark 1980s

Trigona bowl designed by Torben Jørgensen for Holmegaard Glasværk/Royal Copenhagen 1988. Trigona is series of centrifuged clear glass with smooth inner and cube patterned outer surface. The pattern is inspired by honeycomb. Dimensions: Diameter: 31.5 cm, Height: 15.5 cm, Weight: 2200 gr. Glass artist Torben Jørgensen was associated with Holmegaard for more than 25 years. He was very fascinated by a throwing technique that was discovered in the 1930s. It is a technique that exploits the natural abilities and dynamics of glass: A glowing lump of glass solidifies as it is thrown out in a rapidly swirling form.
