Charming rectangular dish in glazed stoneware, decorated with the famous thistle motif dear to the potter Daniel Étienne, a discreet but recognized figure of the Vallauris ceramic scene in the 60s and 70s. Made of slightly chamotte stoneware, this dish has a beautiful textured and speckled appearance, typical of the natural clays used in Vallauris at this time. These small surface irregularities (grains, inclusions, glaze variations) are the charm of the workshop's artisanal productions. The natural hues - sage green, grayish mauve, deep brown - combine with a typical scalloped shape, without overloading. A handcrafted piece full of poetry, emblematic of this period when Vallauris shone thanks to its many independent workshops. Unsigned, as is often the case on his serving pieces, but attributable without hesitation to Daniel Étienne by the decoration and style. Length 34 cm, width 17 cm, quite heavy. Wear and tear from use, chips on the scalloped edges but charming. Perfect as a trinket dish, cheese dish, etc.
