Coffee maker from the schott & gen jena glassworks in mainz, in its silver metal box lined with velvet to keep coffee warm. Can also be used as a wine decanter. The glass is intact and the metal case is in exceptional condition. Jenaer's glass work was started by otto schott in 1851, who was a pioneer of glass technology and made glass for microscopes and telescopes for carl zeiss and in 1922 they began making refractory glass for households.
