This very beautiful decorative plate made of earthenware, with a lovely hand-painted polychrome floral design, comes from the Fourmaintraux Courquin factory in Desvres. It indeed features the intertwined initials F and C on the back, which, according to my research, indicates that it dates from the years 1865 to 1900. A true testament to the history of French ceramics. And for a plate that is over 125 years old, it is in wonderful condition! No cracks or chips, just three invisible nicks once the plate is hung on the wall or placed in a display cabinet (two located on the edge but on the back side, and the other, which could also be a lack of original glazing, is on the back of the plate). It also has some original irregularities that testify to its handmade production (variable thickness of the glazing, slight roughness in places on the rim, slight over-thickness in places in the material…). It measures 24 cm in diameter with a maximum height of 3.5 cm at the edge.
