Emile goussery (1867-1941) "the settons" Watercolor signed and dated 1934. Dimensions with the 53 X 44.5 cm frame. Passionate about drawing, emile goussery worked in paris where he was introduced to architecture and sculpture in order to teach fine arts. In 1887, he was admitted to both the regular school competition and the high school and college competition. He found a position as a drawing teacher at monge de beaune college in december 1887, and eded in the city's public schools. Upon his arrival in beaune, he lived in the house where gaspard monge and félix ziem were born. His teaching career continued until 1930. He drew many views of beaune, monuments in beaunois, portraits and illustrated several publications, such as the work of his friend joseph délissey. During his travels, he brings with him landscapes that he was able to admire and fix on the canvas. A member of the museum's commission since 1887, he was appointed curator of the beaune museum of art in 1927. In 1904, he was made a knight of the academic palms, then an officer in 1914, and a knight of the legion of honour in 1934.
