Soup tureen in ironstone from the Orchies – Moulin des Loups and Hamage factory, St Gast model, circa 1925–1935. Symmetrical composition, stylised floral motifs, structured frieze, and a pronounced graphic rhythm, deep blue combined with ochre-gold highlights on a finely speckled ivory background, creating an elegant and highly architectural contrast. The decoration was likely done using a stencil, with a very light relief perceptible to the touch, characteristic of stencil application (or under-stencil with an airbrush). This technique, widely used in the 1920s and 30s to modernise productions, allows for a more intense colour density, a subtle thickness of glaze, superior visual depth, and graphic finesse suited to the Art Deco style. Stamped Orchies Moulin des Loups and Hamage – Nord + St Gast model (corresponding to the period following the 1923 merger between the Orchies and Hamage factories). Diameter 23 cm, width with handles 29.5 cm, height with lid 14 cm, height without lid 9 cm. In beautiful vintage condition, with patina of time, cracks, edge wear, and a small chip under the lid that is not visible when the lid is placed (see photos). Perfect for a chic bistro table with an Art Deco spirit!.
