This magnificent pair of wall sconces in gilded bronze, dating from the mid-19th century, embodies the elegance and refinement of the Napoléon III era. Inspired by the original model designed by Claude Galle for the grand salon of the Petit Trianon, these sconces are now located in the dining room of the hunting returns of the king's inner apartment at the Château de Versailles. Each sconce features three light arms shaped like hunting horns, symbolising the art of hunting and the luxury of the royal court. The body of the sconces is adorned with ribboned oak leaves, adding a touch of nature and majesty. The ends of the arms are finished with finials shaped like deer hooves, highlighting the hunting theme with remarkable finesse. These sconces are not only sources of light but also works of art that reflect the exceptional craftsmanship of 19th-century artisans. They bring a royal and historical ambiance to any interior, evoking the splendours of the court of Versailles and the artistic legacy of Claude Galle. ******** Period: Mid-19th century.
