Print from the meiji period, 1889, depicting a geisha in the moonlight. This woodcut, or ukiyo-e, is an oban tate-e that happened to be part of a triptych, and was made in japan at the end of the 19th century. It depicts a woman kneeling next to another character whose clothes can only be seen. The scene takes place in the moonlight on a bridge. The term "oban" means the most common format for engraving in japan, measuring about 37 × 25 cm, while "tate-e" indicates that the engraving is vertical. The print was framed under glass in a solid oak frame. Very good condition. Frame: 45x33.5x1 cm. Oban: 36 X 25 cm approx.
