Pretty and practical, this little harness also serves as a magazine holder underneath. Straight out of the 60s, I found it in a presbytery clearance! Yes, it really exists; ) it was not in very good condition, I must admit, but I fell for its nice design and its very functional side and made it my duty to try to bring it back to life, without making it new, rather by keeping the patina of decades. To begin with, the red scoubidou was broken on one side, I was able to glue one end of one of the strands into the hole provided for this purpose under the central bar, but the other had become too short so I opted for a technique that we sometimes see on certain objects decorated with scoubidou threads: I fixed it on the rising part of the strand using a twisted and then flattened metal wire. For the moment it is holding up well, but it cannot be ruled out that to prolong the life of this piece of furniture it will one day be necessary to replace the scoubidou. The horizontal rods in black lacquered metal had some gaps in the lacquer, I added a few small touches of black paint to hide the most obvious gaps. The wood, now: it has a few small marks and scratches on the base, but above all, the tablet has many marks, scratches and abrasions. Depending on the light, this is more or less visible. I applied a coat of gloss varnish to slightly blur these defects, but they largely persist...if you don't like furniture marked by time, move on, or plan a real restoration (sanding, revarnishing or black lacquering why not). This piece of furniture measures 60 cm in height, 55 cm in width, 29 cm in depth at the base. The tablet measures 50 cm by 20 cm.
