A large unique vintage handmade wool rug from the 1960s in multicolour stripes. I travel all over algeria to source unique rugs. This specific rug is from the rebelious kabylie mountains where locals still speak the berber amazigh language. This natural wool rug features stripes on a colourful palette, which becomes an instant eye catcher and a must have for every interior décor enthusiast. Either you combine it with neutral or colourful furniture and subtle accessories, this rug will blend in well with all kinds of surroundings and interior décor. This type of massive rugs called "hanbel" were used to cover many members of the family at once when they sleep during cold winter nights. All the rugs I source come from a second, third or older generation. The wool yarns came from the ethically grown livestock of locals who dyed and treated with traditional organic methods hence the high finishing quality. All rugs should be washed in cold water and dry flat. You can view a selection of rugs in central london at the shop: Ground one six. 6 malden road. Belsize park. London, nw5 3hr.
