Small polychrome earthenware pot – Fourmaintraux-Courquin Desvres

Small antique cache pot in fine faience by Fourmaintraux Courquin (Desvres), resting on three enamelled feet, with a scalloped edge and applied side handles. The piece is hand-decorated with a polychrome design, combining stylised flowers, foliage, and insects, in a vibrant and balanced palette of blues, greens, yellows, and ochre, characteristic of Fourmaintraux-Courquin's productions at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Under the base is the handwritten signature “F C”, corresponding to the Fourmaintraux-Courquin factory, one of the oldest and most important faience manufacturers in Desvres. The quality of the decoration, the finesse of the lines, and the presence of well-defined feet testify to a careful production, intended for the table or decorative use. Signature: intertwined monogram FC for Fourmaintreau Courquin, faience factory in Desvres. Height 7.5 cm including feet, depth 6.5 cm, diameter including handles 10.5 cm, without handles 9.5 cm. In good condition, with slight enamel patina and wear on the three small feet (see photos). An authentic and rare piece, perfect for enriching a collection of French faience or adding a touch of charm and elegance to a chic vintage interior.
