Antique 18th Century Marseille Faience Jardinière by Veuve Perrin, 1736-1748 Magnificent antique 18th century slow-fired Marseille faience jardinière by Veuve Perrin. Made of slip, hand-painted, and richly detailed, it is adorned with cameo handles and stands on four carved feet in a distinctive cherry color. The painted decoration on the sides and on the large dish features detailed flowers, including roses. Both pieces bear the mark "VP, " which enabled him to develop a very high-quality production. Claude Perrin, a potter originally from Nièvre, settled in Marseille in 1736, where he died at the age of 58 in 1748. His widow, Pierrette Candelot, continued production under the mark "Veuve Perrin." She signed a collaboration agreement with Honoré Savy, who trained at the Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Marseille. This collaboration lasted from 1760 to 1770. In 1774, the widow Perrin joined forces again with her son and Antoine Abellard, grandson of Antoine Clérissy. She continued the business until her death in 1794. Her son Joseph and her daughter Anne succeeded her until the company finally closed in 1803. Dimensions: 40 X 17.5 X 30 cm As these are period objects, they may show signs of age. The photographs are an integral part of the description and condition.
