This elegant sugar tong is made of german silver metal from the wmf goldsmith house. A pretty cutlery for serving sugar cubes or ice cubes. It is decorated with a very elegant neo-classical net and medallion. Produced by the wmf firm in germany, it bears the "wmf 1/0" hallmark. The wmf firm was created in 1853 in germany by daniel straub who joined forces with the schweizer brothers. The company diversified and offered quality metal objects, tableware and coffee machines. It was recognized for the quality of its creations at various universal exhibitions, including the one in london in 1862. The art nouveau period and its fluid shapes inspired designers. The 1920s marked a turning point towards more sober and functional shapes. As part of the creation of the new craft service (nsa) in 1927, wmf enhanced the standard range with unusual collections that were the work of renowned designers and architects. Today, wmf tasting and tableware objects are a guarantee of quality and design. The firm is present in 90 countries. In good condition, this sugar tong measures 13.5cm. I note scratches from use and traces of oxidation.
