This armoire was purchased in Shanghai 10 years ago and comes from Shanxi, China. It dates back to the 19th century. The antique dealer who sold it to us sanded the fronts to reveal the raw wood; only the back and interior remained painted black. We added an extra board (see photo). It can easily be removed if necessary.
