Titled "Such a Long Wait," this original print by Michel Mathonnat (born 1944) is an intimate and silent composition, emblematic of the artist's poetic universe. Created in the 1970s, it belongs to a series on the theme "Black Beauty," developed after his collaboration with the publisher Alex Rosenberg to illustrate the poetry of Léopold Sédar Senghor. The mixed technique of etching and mezzotint allows for a deep and velvety rendering, highlighting the female nude from behind, bathed in light, in a bare room, facing an open window onto a textured sky. The print is numbered XXI/XXV (or 21/25 in Roman numerals) and signed in pencil by Michel Mathonnat at the bottom right. It was published by the Éditions d’Art de Francony, and the certificate of authenticity is present on the back of the frame. The whole is presented under glass, with a cream mount and a gilded moulded wooden frame. Total dimensions with frame: 63 x 77 cm. The overall condition is good, with slight signs of wear on the frame, without affecting the visual impact of the artwork.
