Curved black lacquered wooden armchair in Thonet style

Curved black lacquered wooden armchair, Thonet style. France, circa 1930. Curved black lacquered beech, moulded wooden seat, spindle backrest with vase-shaped profile, continuous curved armrest-backrest, flared legs connected by a curved arc stretcher. Typical structure of café and bistro chairs in the Thonet tradition, with no visible markings on the back — unattributed manufacture, likely from one of the many bentwood factories in Europe between the wars. Period black lacquer showing beautiful natural wear revealing blonde wood in places. Height: 72 cm. Seat height: 46 cm. Width: 50 cm. Depth: 45 cm. Condition consistent with age. Wear to the lacquer on the armrests and seat. Solid structure.
