Pair of Armchairs known as 'Caquetoires' Renaissance Style – Late 19th Century. Pair of trapezoidal-shaped armchairs. These seats with narrow backs are equipped with two armrests directed outward. The front legs are turned balusters, while the back legs are square. They are connected by three stretchers. These armchairs, known as 'Caquetoires', the first armchairs with armrests, designed in the Renaissance spirit, have a rather modern shape today. This type of seat was intended to accommodate women who wished to "caqueter", meaning to chat. The fabric is in fair condition. Dimensions: length 56 cm X height 90 cm X depth 43 cm.
