Remarkable cardboard box from the domaine des 3 chateaux (coye la forêt)

Beyond its superb appearance with its brass labels and its high-quality oak, it has a rare provenance! It is a former property of the city of paris, which served for many decades in the domaine des trois châteaux, in coye la forêt, in the oise (right next to chantilly). At the turn of the 20th century, two wealthy industrialists had two châteaux built on this 27-hectare plot of land, the château des tilles and the château de l'hermitage. The latter belonged to paul decauville (1846-1922) who would be the only owner of an oil vehicle in all of coye! In 1911, more than 60 servants worked on the estate. It was later abandoned by the heirs, then sold to a swedish company in 1943 - from 44 to 49 it then welcomed thousands of "children of war." finally recovered by the french state, this estate where sumptuous buildings stand (including the covered manere which reproduces the glass roof of the gare de lyon), will serve as a school, a reception center until recently. The city of paris has just parted with it and this piece of furniture is part of the inventory. It is in fact a filing cabinet which was kept in the caretaker's lodge and which was used to distribute mail and documents according to the various institutions of the estate. This is why we find the superb engraved brass labels fixed to the doors with the brilliant mentions of: hermitage, tilles, or head of service, lingerie, cuisine... In all, 14 lockers with their solid oak door, their gilded button and their horizontal pegs. The piece of furniture was probably made by the technical services of the estate in the 60s/70s. The lockers close with small magnets. A larger storage space, at the very bottom, is dedicated to the watchers!.
