Apothecary Pot "Salt of Wisdom"

Vintage medicine jar "sel de la sagesse", in white earthenware. A floral decoration accompanied by the serpent of epidaurus embracing a cup, a symbol that would appear, as early as 1222, among the apothecaries of padua as a distinctive symbol of pharmacy, appearing as a motif of their banner. "salt of wisdom" is a double chloride formula of mercury ammonium, commonly prescribed against syphilis. Measures about 20 cm h. X 9.5 cm in diameter. In excellent condition.
