The Industrial Icon: "Table with Wheels" by Gae Aulenti (FontanaArte) A centrepiece in the history of contemporary design. Designed in 1980 by the legendary Italian architect Gae Aulenti for FontanaArte, this coffee table was born from a brilliant intuition: to replace the wooden shelf of industrial carts with a thick glass top. THE XXL FORMAT (150 X 100 cm) This is one of the largest dimensions produced. This monumental size (1.5 metres long) gives the table an incredible architectural presence in the centre of a large living room. The contrast between the heavy transparent glass that seems to float and the raw industrial wheels is striking. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Top: Clear "Float" glass, 15 mm thick, with polished edges. Base: 4 swivel industrial wheels with black rubber tyres, fixed with visible bolts on black varnished metal forks. CONDITION & PRICE SET ACCORDINGLY ⚠️ This is a vintage piece that has seen some use. While the wheels and the centre of the top are in very good condition, we note a clean chip (impact) on one of the corners of the glass top (see detail photos). The glass structure remains perfectly solid and secure (the thick float glass does not chip), but this aesthetic flaw justifies a selling price significantly lower than the current market value for this giant format.
