A rare and expressive piece from the old productions of Sarreguemines: this is an old smoking tray, intended to hold tobacco, pipes and accessories. This type of utilitarian piece, often neglected, is today uncommon on the market and prized for its singularity and its typical 19th century design. A rare survivor of a bygone use, it is made of fine feldspar majolica earthenware and combines the charm of a "wicker" decoration in slight relief with a warm and natural palette, dominated by burnt ochre, caramel and dead leaf tones, right in line with the trends for autumn 2025. Brown and yellow tray shape imitating basketwork: semi-circular with two handles on the back on the sides. Stamped Sarreguemines, old brand, between 1890 and 1920. Length in cm: 22.5 cm. Width in cm: 30.3 cm. Height in cm: 6.7 cm. Beautiful overall appearance despite two discreet chips on the edge, visible in the photos. Light patina of age and natural glaze cracks. Beautiful restoration work on one of the handles which has been reglued (see photos). Diverse uses: – autumn pocket emptier for dried fruits, pine cones, clementines… – centerpiece with candles, or for a potpourri. Its generous, slightly hollow shape and its finely molded details make it an object both functional and decorative.
