This earlier version of the albert armchair was designed by finn østergaard in the 1960s. It was manufactured by kvist møbler and remains a classic example of scandinavian modern design. Scandinavian wood and ergonomics. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the possibilities of the first and the questions about the second stimulated the invention (especially thanks to michael thonet) of a new woodworking technique: bending wood. It enabled woodworkers to create wavy shapes from wood - shapes that could follow the shape of the human body. Given the infinite amount of wood available in the scandinavian countries, scandinavian designers in particular (such as alvar aalto) began to explore the new possibilities of this technique. Thonet's new bending method laid the foundation for the scandinavian design aesthetic as we see it today. The price is per seat. We have 3 in stock.
