Set of Eight Walnut Chairs with Band Backrest and Saber Legs. French Work.
Each chair features a generously curved backrest with a large palmette cutout in a violin shape, characteristic of the period. The trapezoidal seat, upholstered in a green fabric with small patterns, rests on slightly curved front legs and saber-shaped back legs, ensuring the elegance of the silhouette. The walnut offers a beautiful, warm blonde patina. This set perfectly illustrates the furniture of the Louis-Philippe era, around 1840: lines inherited from the Restoration, simplified and comfortable, intended for the bourgeois dining room. Gathering eight period chairs of the same model is now rare and valuable for furnishing a large table. Condition report: Generally good condition. Walnut with a beautiful old patina, sound structures, upholstery and fabrics in usable condition that can be kept as is or reupholstered to modern taste. An ideal set around a large dining or farmhouse table.
